2001 Volvo S40 stuck in Shiftlock?

2001 Volvo S40 stuck in Shiftlock?

Today the gear selector became stuck in Park, the only way I can shift gears is to depress the ShiftLock button with a screwdriver while squeezing the the release. How do you I fix this? using the release on the gear selector and NOT use a screwdriver to push down shiftlock. Also I',ve checked all the fuses, so it',s not that.

It should come back to normal. I pressed mine to attempt it out and I was able to shift gears without pressing the selector. The shiftlock button then popped back up into place some days afterward and it was all ok.
