2003 Mazda Tribute 30,000 mile service (at 90,000)?

Postby ctoiron » Tue Nov 03, 2009 1:40 am

I was given a list of things that are checked/changed/fixed:

Transmission fluid

Engine coolant

Brake fluid

Air filter

Fuel filter

Engine oil

Rotate Tires

Check brakes, tubes, etc.

The estimate was $575 and looks high. Are there certain things I can't have done or do myself or take someplace where it's cheaper ?

Thanks.

Listen, there are a lot of things you may be able to do. Go to another shop for the service. You could get everything done for about $250400 at another shop. If that',s too high, have them do a tranny service, coolant change, oil change. Change the air filter yourself. They cost less than $20 and it',s may be done in less than five minutes. Rotating tires is another easy thing if you have a jack or two. but, depending on what you',re asking, it',s safe to assume that you aren',t mechanically inclined. If you want to learn how to do it yourself, go to a local library and check out a book by liked Mechanics called "Saturday Morning Mechanic" or purchase a fix guide for your car.

BTW, in about 10,000 miles, your Tribute will be needing it',s 1st tuneup. Those cars are costly when it comes to tuneups because the spark plugs are hard to reach. attempt to save as much as you may be able to on this service and use the difference towards the tune up afterward.
