i put a kn air filter and short ram it what else am I supposed to do to get more hp that is cheap?

that is about as far as you may be able to go before it gets gay. you could put a fart muffler on it but it'll make it sound like and you wont get anything throwing a 5" large muffler on one 1/2" exhaust. if you do do full length exhaust your engine does not produce enough power to really use it. just enjoy it for what it's. You could get a chip burned but its usually pretty costly and not worth the money.


Emphasis on 'CHEAP' ways to get hp read the question. last I checked taking the head off and 'shaving' it isn't going to be real cheap. Nitrous on a stock motor? that is retarded. The motor was built for dependability and fuel economy Not a shot of nitrous to go racing. If not installed properly you may be able to damage or destroy the engine in your car and if it's your shaving miles and years off of the life of it. Cat back exhaust does not help hardly at all on a civic in spite of what you hear. it'll just sound like crap and with the loss of backpressure you lose torque in doing so. it may help if more power was made say through a turbo which is far from cheap, and I am being realistic here. Taking the ac out and interior is what is called 'ricing it out'. Its not a drag car so its not going to help much. it'll just appear like and wont be much fast. that is not a performance mod, just ghetto as hell. Do you think T/A and STI drivers do that? most likely not.

I don't think you're really reading what I'm saying. Am I trashing all jap cars? no. I know there are some respectable 'tuner cars' but a civic with a wing and a tacky body kit to make it appear like a jet or whatever people do it for is stupid. If you show cars, more power to you. But yanking ac and the back seat out of any economy car for power is desperate, The ricers are the guys who put screw ons onto their econo boxes and think they drive a porsche. being a ricer is an approach. Intake and exhaust on a sub 200hp car isn't going to make you fast. 14.1 on nitrous is fast? in comparison to what?

That should be the twin cam. You could use a vtec controller. You may have your head shaved carefully 30thousandths. Do a full exhaust and put on a high flow/cat on it. Put a header on it. You could change back to a p28 ecu. Check eBay for some pretty sweet deals. Of course, nitrous is a fast way to get hp, 50 shots with stock timing. Any advancement could hurt your motor. decrease weight in your car, get rid of a/c if you do not really need it. Better fuel and correct maintence generally help. That last answerer had no idea of how to get hp so he just shot out insults. There are many ways to get hp. Good luck.
