67 camaro electrical problems? |
|
I have a 67 camaro rs. Electrical hideaway headlights. I have been having problems recently. It has keyless entry, but now, the passenger door wont lock or unlock with the remote. When I lock the car, the tailights blink twice, but only one of the left tailights lights up, but its good when im driving. as well, my reverse lights come on randomly when I drive. The right healight door wont open, but it'll close. When I turn on my headlights, on occasion they don't turn on, I have to hit the dimmer switch and put them on brights for them to work. as well, the interior lights for the speedo and gauges is off a lot of the time, and I have to fiddle with the headlight/interior dimmer to make them work. hah oh jeeze what else is wrong. Oh, my alarm doesnt sound anymore..i think that's it. ha If anybody may help with ANY of these problems, I could really appreciate it. I don't have much money, so taking it to a place may be out of the question, but if anybody knows a good place around the SFV thanks

OK sense the 67 never had power locks key less entry..
it sounds like who ever installed this system butchered the fuse box and wire harness . It can be easier to get a wire harness form PAINLESS WIRE.com and rewire the hold car
Because you may be able to use up months trying to fight issues and never correct them all. Hot and Cold weather will effect the operation.
2ND this could leave you in a new beginning and let you to add what ever accessories you want with ease.

As I own a 99 maro I know the problems with electrical is a pita. As one stated sounds like a contact problem. If it is not the hot loosing contact then the ground may be, ether there lose or corrosion.
Another thought is that the alarm is tied in to most of the system if not all of it. The alarm may be going out and need replaced.
If at all possible do not drive it till you find the problem. it may lead to others like a fire or stranded. Check the connections 1st it is a long and painful procedure but it's free and makes you learn your car . That do not help have some one look at the alarm. If it's the problem yank it till you can fix it. If not look up Z28.com and others on there will assist and my come to your house and lend a hand. it's primarily fourth gens but there's some knowledgeable and at least one gm corp person that stops in time to time. Hope this helps

Sounds like a butch job on that keyless entry. Your going to need a good car electrician, or you can be better off with a new harness. that is not Too hard to do and its easier than trying to trace down all those problems.
