'92 Hyunai Elantra sputters, stalls, misses at idle and wont go over 25mph sometimes notice the following?
Have checked everything related like Throtle position sensor, idle air bypass valve, vacuum hoses and the other common suspects like plugs, wires, injectors, fuel pressure reg. etc. No
trouble codes. Could it be the auto trans?
It has a blown head gasket and the it burns oil it was for a while long time before this problem worked on.

I am a tech myself not a whole lot of experiance.

1.6L mitsubishi engine DOHC used in 92 elantras.118000 miles.

Did you know that "Hyundai" is pronounced "Hun DIE"? If that does not tell you what the problem is, nothing will.

Seriously, the Mitsu motor they used was notorious for running badly and coming out of tune as the ECU in the motor decided that it did not have enough computing power to manage the needs of really working a car. The motor issues may caused unwarranted wear on the tranny as it tried vainly to jhandle to inconsitent power and functioning of that motor. At that mileage, your fix costs are FAR in extra of the value of the car. In fact, I'd want to bet the fix costs could be more than double the book value of the car.

if it has a blown head gasket fix it 1st then retest redrive ..

Try the head gasket 1st, then after a retest communicate your problem to the dealer service shop manager chances are that he or she's seen this problem before .

well 1st fix the blown head gskt but it sounds like it's out of time pull upper t belt cover off to ck
