A shimmering Ford Windstar? |
|
We own a 1999 Ford Windstar that's nearly a perfect ride, except for when we're on the highway. When we go over the speed bound, then slow back down, the van shimmers as we're braking, but only between certain speeds. for example, as we're slowing down, it starts to shimmer at 85 kpm and disappears at 60 kpm. anybody have any ideas what is going on?

If it happens while you're braking I could say you have a warped brake rotor

You mean "shimmy," I think, not "shimmer."
You need a wheel alignment, a wheel balance, or possibly a new tire, in decreasing order of likelihood. Take it to your nearest tire and alignment shop and have them check it out to find out which of these is your problem.

Tie rod ends were a problem with the windstar. Also check the brake rotors.
