AC question on wrx? |
|
Sometimes when I turn on the car and put on the air conditioning it makes a deafening high pitched squeaking sound. Has anybody ever had this problem or knows what it may be?

First check your belt tension, if that is OK then you more than probably have a bad A/C clutch or clutch bearing and the clutch will must be replaced. The other problem that causes what you're hearing is that the A/C pump it self may be frozen up causing the belt to slip. To replace the A/C clutch or pump isn't a cheap job. If it's the pump you're looking at about a $500.00 job or more. sorry about the bad news. Let me know what you find. If I may be of more help to you feel free to email me.
Sincerely yours,
