I am thinking about buying an Audi A6 3.0 quattro Avant. Any ideas about good/bad years, quality of the A6 v A4. A friend has had all kinds of problems with his 1.8 A4 sedan.
The price seams right but is this related to # of problems.
I am a long time VW owner and could like to grow up a little.

Anything newer than 2000 is a great choice I do not see many problems other than the CV boots to get worn out or the frontend suspension componets wearing out. the timing belts are an issue if they aren't changed at around 60K
