Battery on 530i BMW, 2002?

Postby hote2newne » Tue Nov 03, 2009 1:07 am

I changed the battery twice on my car, both walmart brand, both batteries died in less than a week, it',s the same size and the one suggested for the car, still I don',t know what',s going on.

Someone told me I had to get the battery registered at a BMW dealer, whatever that means..

Please help me out, wife and kids have been stranded twice.

I had the same problem with my BMW Z3, turned out it was the electric seats draining the battery switch stuck . Whilst searching for a solution I heard of trunk lights that don',t go outfans that don',t go off etc on many BMW models. Have a look around your car and see if anything is out of the common. It isn't the battery it'll be something in the car that isn't operating properlyif you can',t find it yourself get it down to a dealer/garage.

Hope this helps.

Make sure the place you purchase the battery from, sells batteries quite on a regular base. If a battery sits on a counter for too long then its goes totally flat. Once its goes down to zero volts then its never economical again. Also if you don',t use your car that frequently, then nothing is charging the battery up and the alarm which is constantly monitoring the car will be draining the battery. attempt switching off the alarm under the bonnet and locking it manually.
