Have you used the USB choice in the BMW with an Ipod?
Does it work properly with the controller?
Does it work withh all kinds of Ipods?
Thanks in advance

Not sure what you mean by usb choice.
The integration choice that BMW offers will work with any ipod that has the dock connector, as well as the iphone. If you have an older generation ipod gen one and two you'll need a Dension Ice >,link. These two systems are different ways you may be able to use to have an ipod integrated into your car but both lets you to control the ipod with your head unit so you may be able to just throw the ipod in the glovebox.
Both alternatives works a lot better than a FM transmitter in respect to convienence and quality of sound. You aren't going to have to switch frequencies while you're travelling and you get the sound quality of a hard wire.
