Can anybody tell me what the themastat temp on a 2004 jeep wrangler sport is suposed to be?
Can anybody tell me what the 2004 jeep wrangler sport thermastat should be runing my wife is rual mail carrier and when starting and stoping as much as she does in the summer with the airconditioner on the jeep will go into the red and start runing bad so she's to turn the air off to get it to stay in the normal temp range it's runing at 210 normal that looks to hot to me I figured 190 or 195 is were it should be, and if I change the termastat to a lower one does it mess up the computer stuff or is it ok to change and not influence anything else.

The factory thermostat is 195 degree, not 180. Jeep engineers will do a Q&A on different fan sites from time to time and generally recommend AGAINST running anything other than the 195 that came from the factory as the engine runs best at the 210 level. You may have to go to a bigger radiator to keep it cool maybe a bigger fan.
Also check the water pump, just in case.

standard thermostat is set at 195 F...meaning it open,s at 195 ....normal operating temperature may be any where from 195 to210 F.....you may change it to 180 or 160..without adverse effect,s...except ..your engine won't be quite as economical..operating at a lower temperature.

The operating temp for the 4.0 inline six is 210 presuming it has the inline six wich the sport should have a six.
