Yes. If the motor and transmission is healthy your results should be great.
What I mean is if the motor and trans have have correct maintenace and are not leaking or burning oil.
Now on to the turbo. For the money one of the best kits I have seen and used was Greddy. Great for factory dependability and pretty good 'boost' for performance.
A kit from greddy new is about $2400 with intercooler and eManage and comes with a base map so you may be able to drive it after install carefully without costly tuning. Also eManage works with auto cars, kinda tough to find on some engine management setups.
This kit may be sourced used for around $1500. Or you could part together a kit with parts if you know what you need. not suggested for the beginner because missing parts can because a spike in cost and not all parts put together will make a good/ dependable setup.
With that said. You may also use different engine management. Instead of eManage you may be able to use an FMU $50 fuel management unit that increases the fuel supply established and a vacuum line, Apexi SAFC $100 for light tuning, and missing link $30 used to fool the factory MAP sensor. light tuning on dyno with wideband O2 hookup $250 . For the price I could use eManage used for $250. It may be wired into your factor ecu wires as a piggyback and as stated earlier gives adequate power with the use of free downloadable tunes from other users of eManage. This isn't going to give youo the best power, but will be as good as the SAFC, FMU, missin link combo.
I could only run six nine psi on a stock motor and transmission. If the motor is weak only 6psi for sure. Plus you'll have to watch out for the oil once a turbo is installed. The oil will break down and get gunkier faster than before. it'll require more recurrent oil changes and use of premium fuel. Something to think about when looking at the cost of this modification.
On auto cars you'll see a great improvement on highway speeds and no decrease in MPG unless the wrong size turbo can be used or you can not control your right foot. I have seen both senarios before.
Good luck and enjoy increase. Post more questions if you have them I'll be around

If you have the money and time, you could stick a turbo on your lawn mower. Yes you could, I am sure you could find a turbo kit for your car.
