Difference Between Cold air and short ram?

I'm not sure what I have as the internet has me all perplexed. From what I know is a short ram stays near the engine and a cold air goes down under your battery where the air is coldest away from engine heat. BUT I have seen them look so alike AND MIXED UP.

the AEM on my Prelude looks a lot like the short ram pic but the man who sold it to me called it a cold air. CAN A COLD AIR LOOK THIS alike TO A SHORT RAM AND STILL BE think about A COLD AIR INTAKE?

I do get good speed after 80 mph and before 110.

AS the name implies the short air intake has a short pipes.

The COLD air intake have frequently tucked in between fenders or have special box that only let cold OUTSIDE air to enter the engine. If your air filter is anywhere under the hood without physical separation them you just have short air intake.

But that isn't a bad thing. COLD air intake are only really meant for the tracks. If you were to hit a puddle you may be able to take in a gulp of water and freeze up you engine real bad.

Even if you were to install a COLD air system, but do not install a divider to keep the hot engine heated air out of the air filter, then you made that into a "short" air intake.

In many test, it was found that many COLD air intakes weren't all that much better because frequently the extra limitations of the air box. if you weren't able to snake the cold air intake down low near the bottom of the car, away from the engine heat, then it is not a real COLD air intake.

if you are intake goes all the way down to under you are battery then its a cold air, if not then its just a short ram or regular intake, the man is lying to you

the difference between at cold air intake and a short ram is cold air intakes have a little lag on the throttle answer and if the man said it was a cold air maybe he was just trying to get you to purchase his car but personally I think a short ram is a lot better because there's no chance of to get water into your engine and if you choose to turbo your car theres possible unlike a cold air
