You press the pedal on the right down more with turbochargers, so fuel economy goes down.

they decrease fuel efficiency. They do this, as turbo chargers increase air to the engine, so for it to be efficient in rising power more fuel is obliged.
hope this helps

Depends on how you drive. The turbo s kick in at an RPM in the mid range of the engine. In city driving if you drive conservativey and don't rev the engine hard the turbo won't kick in much and fuel economy will stay good.

This is only intuitive but turbocharging gives a care more power and speed so must decrease fuel mileage alike to how persons who have big muscles burn more colories per day than persons with smaller muscles. How much depends on other factors, like when does the computer "or analogue counterpart vacuum line" tell the turbocharger to start continuously or at some specific speed or only when the gas pedal is punched.

A turbochargers job is to cram more fuel into the same cylinders using pressure. More fuel = worse fuel economy.
Back when cars were carburated, the turbulence of the air/fuel mixture going through the turbine could disperse the fuel more evenly as it filled the cylinders, ensuing in somewhat better gas mileage, but this could only happen in a car with the carburation not working so great, and with the turbocharger running with nearly no increase. This effect doesn't apply to fuel injected cars.

how much it decreases depends on your driving style. the VW TDI turbo diesel engine gets 48+mpg in the new beetle. that is not too bad i'd say.

Actually a turbo charger will somewhat increase your fuel mileage. All it does is force more air into your engine. More air lets the fuel to burn more complete, also increases your horse power. More horse power to do the same job causes you to burn less fuel. If you drive normal that's. If you hot rod, which will most likely happen with more horses under the hood, understandably you'll use more fuel than average. But under normal driving conditions you may want to see a slight increase in your fuel economy. To increase your economy more install an after cooler or inter cooler.

neither.it is the driver and the drivers tendancy to use the full power of a turbocharger everytime the gas pedal is touched. A turbo isn't a bad thing, there are lots of factory installed turbos on cars, trucks and big trucks like tractor trailers, tri axles etc. If these vehicles didn't have a turbo, then nobody could by them since under normal conditions they wouldnt operate well.
How ever, those that put an aftermarket turbo, supercharger or NOS on any car shouldn't be wondering how to save fuel in the 1st place because when you go faster, so does the gas. If I could keep my foot out of my floorboard, my Charger could get great gas mileage, but damn I love the Hemi in it so I settle for 16 mpg. haha

Turbos increase an engines efficiancy but fuel economy will be effected based on how much increase you run. More increase more fuel.
