The older escapes had some minor problems but the 2004 on up are good dependable transportation with little problems

Personally I could purchase a Toyota RAV4. Approx. the same size. My daughter has one escape and she's had her part of problems with it. nearly lost the front end, some strange sound. Cost to fix 1200 dollars. Ugh. it is a 03' with aprox. 65,000 miles on it.

My sister owns a Ford Escape, nothing but problems. Replaced front wheel bearings five times, replaced front sway bar, replaced starter, replaced exhaust manifolds, replaced alternator three times. it is a 2002 year model, Ford dealer mechanic said there only good for about 80,000 miles. She also has had problems with the window switches. I am not a mechanic but worked on cars and trucks for over 40 years. The Ford Escape is the biggest peace of junk Ford ever came out with.

I have a hybrid 06 escape..and I LOVE this truck. Now, not sure how it drives compaired to a normal Escape.since the hybrids are a little nicer on the inside than a basic model. Im averaging 33 mpg on highway..and not sure city as I rarely drive city conditions. I have had no problems what so ever with it. I had a 4Runner before this, and this truck is sooo much nicer than any 4Runner I have ever driven. Its a smooth ride, easy on gas, comfy, lots of leg room up front and in back.its the best small suv I have driven for sure.

I rent them every time Hertz has them available. I love them, and if I spent more than some days at home at a time I could purchase one to drive.
Good mileage for being an SUV, nice ride better than the Taurus' I used to drive and good in bad weather.
