Kas proved to be pretty dependable. The engine is a almost 40 year old design depending on the original Kent crossflow unit, now called the Endura, and is totally regular. No cambelts of multi valve setups to go wrong. They may be heavy on plugs and HT leads, but they are comparatively cheap and easy to fit. £20 for a really good set of NGK plugs, and £20 for a set of leads, plus half hour's labour to fit both. Keep the oil and filter changed on a regular base, every 5000 miles at least, and the engine should give 100,000 miles easily.
Gearboxes are good, and clutches last well if treated properly. Electrics do not suffer gremlins and properly maintained and serviced should prove to be a good and dependable car.
Luxurious and fast it ain't, but nippy and convenient, and about as cost efficient as motoring gets. The style you love or hate, and I like 'em. Hope you are happy together.

Bit late to be asking then really.
A friend of mine had one and she didn't seem to have any annoy with it. Modern Fords seem to be quite reliable

No, but I borrowed a friends once for some days and it was a humorous little fellow to drive. A bit like a sewing machine on wheels?

yes I have an 's' reg . 44k so far nothing gone wrong with it . it's quite nippy for the older 1300cc engine . the only thing wrong with it is my kids pranged it a couple of times, I fitted a new bonnet, wings and bumper, oh and headlight . but it's cheap and happy .

yes I have one. I have had it since july 2005. no problems at the beginning, but I have just spent lots on new wishbone at the front
and it's still making noises at the front and on occasion shuddering a bit when driving. so I guess I will be spending more on it,
but I did not purchase it new, I bought it second hand, so it may be continuing problems from last owner.

KA's are possibly the best supermini money can purchase. there is two schools of thought really, they are basic, and as a rule of thumb, super cheap to preserve.
The trade off of having a car that's very basic, is that if anything does go wrong, it's ridiculously cheap to fix, particularly if it is the 1.3 Endura engine old as the hills, and just about as hard. .
Consumables are silly cheap tyres brakes, exhausts etc etc and they are good as the bodies are galvanised. On the flip side, they are usually owned by women, and as a general rule of thumb, they are not maintained properly as younger ladies seem to skimp the servicing and find a friend who just does an oil change and leaves it there.
If you have got a good service history then I doubt you will have anything to trouble you.

Hi.
My mate has three on his business car sales forecourt.
I borrowed one recently, and was impressed with the behavior of one. Handling & dependability seem good, so a lovely little design, cheapish to operate / maintain.
I haven't heard of any bad reports about the KA.
So I believe, another good Ford product.
Of course, any car mis treated will sooner or later have a prob, but I could say usually just play with them.
Want another one ?
All the best with it,
Bob

They do not call them Ford Ka ck for nothing.
On a serious note they're well dependable, feels like you're driving a bigger car than you're, but a bit bland looking and noisy
Still a good car to own that will cost little to run and maintain

Same thing may go wrong with a Ford as with ANY OTHER MAKE OF CAR as well as any and all foreign pieces fo crap. We have driven Fords since 1971 and they really have all been good. the only car that was a "bad" one was when we broke down and bought a PT Cruiser because my husband thought it was so cute which most likely could qualified for the Lemon Law.
One of the keys of ANY car is good maintenance and not abusing the car. Take car of it and do not hot rod in other words.
Everyone in my family drives Fords and they're all great cars. The only bad car in the family is a used, you guessed it, PT Cruiser.

Great little car, my missus had one. She got new front brake discs and brake pads on it for £45 as well as labour.
