What year, engine, transmission ect. Lots of variables.
Well, my brother has a 1993 jeep Cherokee with the 4.0 and quadra trac move case with 160000 miles. Original auto transmission too. About 10000 miles ago it blew a head gasket and leaked allot of oil he doesn't have to worry about rust on the bottom although : and so we re sealed the engine. The only other things to go wrong were the tumbler in the steering column and a cv joint. Not bad for 160000 miles.

If you have the I six 4.0L motor, they are great on power for a light car, and they'll run forever, and gets decent mileage

Rust .. haha. Rust looks to be one of the bigger problems with the early 90's era Cherokee's My advice is pull your carpets out and have the floors bed coated or primed in some fashion to prevent rust if it has not gotten bad still. The same with the bottom of the car a good undercoating must pay off if you want to keep the cancer away. My family has had many Jeeps big and small and the Cherokees are just about the most fun of all for a family. Check out NAXJAthe if you want to learn more about Cherokees and the people who drive them. Enjoy your Jeep.

I have a 92 the I bought used with 75000 back in 2003. It has 155000 now. it's a able 4x4. I have had to replace the water pump and heater control valve because of wear, and the radiator needed replacing. I went to a three core since I live in the Arizona desert. The 4.0 engine is one of the best ever made, but, I suffer from the common exhaust leak that makes it sound like I have to change my valves.
Just keep up on regular maintenance. Keep your front tires properly aired and balanced to avoid the dreaded "death wobble". Do your homework and research everything before you choose to through on a lift. Get it off road once a month to keep the four wheel drive in working order. Have fun with it.

I have a 96 great cherokee restricted. I love it. Goes pretty much anywhere, great in the snow and descent gas mileage 22 26MPG, based on what I am doing in it. 4.0L inline six engine, auto transmission, 191,000+ miles and still runs and drives great other than the problem listed below.
The problem that I have with mine is the front end looks to like to pull the car to the right all the time. I have had it checked out many times and knowone looks to be able to figure it out. Its not out of alignment. So consequently its been labeled as a "Jeep Thing".
