Every individual car is different, so you can not really judge a model's dependability by individual expereinces, good or bad.
The best judge is to look at buyer reports or JD Powers surveys at number of problems per 1000 vehicles.
Cayennes, especially the older models, are pretty shoddy in this regard. The 1st model year was frought with problems, and was at the bottom of JD Power's list.
Reliability improved steadily over the years, but it still is not a better than average car in this regard opposite to what others have said, some number of high end european sports cars have excellent dependability ratings, as well as Porsche's own 911, which is near the tops of quality surveys yearly .
That being said, your best bet if in the market is to purchase new or one under warranty. Then problems can be incovenient but not expensive.
If you purchase used, make sure to check carfax to get the vehicles history and get a pre buy inspection.
The upside of purchasing these cars used is that caused by its comparatively poor dependability record, used car prices are cheap in comparison to new.
Another factor you have to think about is routine maint. is costly if the car does not brake. Service visits are quite expensive and new tires are outrageous my old Boxster S needed new rears every 7500 miles . Not sure how quickly Cayennes usually run through tires, but expect to be to get new ones much sooner than on, and Explorer. Be prepared to shell out this money if you purchase.

I do not know what year that's but. The older the car the more relyable it's. think about I mean rebuilt or mint. Cars today have more reasons to go wrong.

Basically, all high end performance cars have problems.
You may get a good one, or you may not.
The biggest problem is that it is a foreign car, which
means that you must pay OUT THE NOSE for any
kind of service.

Besides the fact that it is a porche, it can have some problems.
From what I know of it can start having problems with the clutch pretty quickly. and to fix the clutch they'd have to take the motor out and that'd be expensive. and if you hit an animal with it, then you're screwed.

Well I own a 2005 Porsche Cayenne Turbo S, Bought it new and honestly it never once gone Wrong Ever. jus get it serviced from the Company every six months or so and it will keep Flying, the only things I have Changes on my Porsche Cayenne Turbo S are the tyres till now about six times cos they wear out pretty Quickly but I think its Because mine is the Turbo S variant which is the most powerfull Cayenne Built to date by Porsche.
My Experience with the Cayenne Turbo S was Great I dunno much about the Base Cayenne or the Cayenne Turbo but my Friend bought a 2008 Cayenne S about three months ago and till now nuthin Happned, and Probabbly nuthing will because its Chassis is from the Volkswagen Toureg and that's a Good thing because my Uncle has a Toureg since 2003 and jus like Cayenne Turbo S nuthing happned to his Toureg aswell.
So from my Experience and the Experience of people around me, I think the Cayenne is a pretty dependable SUV but if you're to get one than take my advice never skip a Service Date and also never leave anything on when you leave the car for a minute cos the Battery life is failrly short in comparison to other cars and nuthing else.
Good Luck.

first of all I know lots of people that can pay for a cayenne that could want to know if it's dependable or not before they purchase it. its not about the money its about being able to drive it and not haveing the time to deal with unshedualed repairs. they aren't super dependable but they're far from being unreliable fallow the recomended maintence and you shouldnt have many problems.

The Jewish communication businesses pay people and buyer product magazines to say that German cars are unrelaible and awful. Own one and drive one you will know the truth
