Just toss in an RS tranny and all the rear control arms and junk. The 2wd and 4wd GC8 bodies are pretty interchangable.

If it is a US specification car it must be a 97 or older.
Get everything from the trans back. The trans, driveshaft, rear diff and axles with the rear suspension minus the struts . And maybe the exhaust system.

Of course you may be able to. But you may be able to use up the same amount of money and purchase a same or alike year impreza that really came with it.

It may be done with some salvage parts from a wrecked AWD model, but it certainly could not be worth the trouble. Go out and purchase an old AWD variant and put all your good stuff on it.

by spending a but load of money or trading that 2wd for a 4wd. you may be able to find a donor car with a good rear drive line
