I has been interested in the Toyota Rav 4.but have not been reading good reviews. Subaru is my next choice.

Do you own an outback or legacy? Have you enjoyed owning on? Any regrets?

I'll tell you this. I have never met a Subaru owner that went out and bought a different make of car. Subaru holders stay subaru holders. I have one, my family has them, my wife and her family have them. We went to the Mitsubishi dealership driving my wifes subaru to shop for a car for a friend. The dealer said he did not want to come out because He knew subaru people would not purchase a Mitsubishi. Sure enough my friend bought a Forester and he loves it too.

Had an Outback for 140,000 miles and loved it. Went to replace it but they had really reduced the foot area. Good grief, why could they cramp your feet? So got Toyota instead.

I've had a 2005 Legacy 2.5 GT since September of 2004. I really enjoy driving it, and I have not had any important problems with it surely nothing that obliged repairs but there are some number of thing I find very annoying about it.

As a result, my next car will most likely be either a Toyota Tacoma, or a 4Runner.

You can read a full review I wrote about it on epinions.com

I have had my 2006 Legacy for two months and 1,011 miles and I am happy with it. It was kind of an odd impulse buy for me. I went to look for a Forester, which I had really researched completely, but I just did not like it. I have never owned a alike car before and finally wanted to stick with a "car" instead of a utility car. The Outback caught my eye, as it was more what I has been accustomed to. It has just about the same carrying capacity as the Forester and it's WAY more comfy. I admit that I made one mistake, although. I thought that $3,400 was too most of a premium to pay for the six and I bought a four cylinder. You also get a six CD in dhas changer with the six. I'm already negotiating with the dealer to take it back as a demo or something. I find that I just do not have the freedom to "make a move" in traffic without thinking about it and I miss that. I have two stop signs that I deal with in my daily 1.3 mile commute and I need something to be THERE right off the line. I drove a Legacy GT and I'm really impressed with the car, but the turbo does not spool up till about three great, so I'm looking for a six cylinder for that low end torque and power right off the line. If this matters to you, purchase the 3.0 R or better six cylinder car. The four cyl is "okay" once you may be able to get the revs up and shift into Sport Mode or use the "manual" shifter, but you just can not create your openings the way you may be able to with a six.

That's my ONLY regret, although. I had a Honda Accord for seven years and I never thought I'd purchase anything but another Honda. The Outback was quite acceptable, other than the lack of low RPM power. The ride is a bit rougher than the Accord, but I projected that. it is not objectionable, although. I have still to take it on a road trip and I have still to see if that all wheel drive really makes a difference, as I'm just completing my break in period of 1,000 miles. Man, I must be to get old. I used to "If you want them to run fast, break them in fast," but I have really kept it under the prescribed four great most of the time. It does track pretty well and follows the line I decide in a turn. I just haven't explored the limitations still.

Subarus are excellent cars and were rated top in buyer satisfaction and dependability by buyer reports. I had a 2003 Outback Sedan. An excellent car but the pickup was only just. The new Outbacks and Legacys are great. The major difference between the non aspirated variants everything but the Outback XT and Legacy 2.5GT is the suspension. The Legacy's suspension is lower.

I have a WRX and it is the best car I have ever owned. Once a subaru owner, generally a subaru owner. Hoping to purchase a new WRX STI restricted this Fall or the new production 2007 Legacy specification B.

Subaru. All the way. Test drive both Rav4 and the Legacy and some things will become obvious quickly. The Subaru wagon has a lower center of gravity, not just because it stands lower than the Rav but also because of it is engine design. It has a boxer type engine that only Subaru and Porsche use. look at this site:
drive.subaru.com/SubaruDrive Sum02/Piston Cranky.aspdrive.subaru.com/SubaruDrive Sum02/Piston Cranky.asp">drive.subaru.com/subarudrive .

You'll find the Subaru will be quicker and nimbler. Subaru's AWD is born of over 50 yrs in the business. Check out subaru.com for more information. they are at the forefront of AWD technology. Only Volvo and Audi may come close. The Rav4 is ok but Toyota's 4Runner is a better product for them. Rav4 is "fad" car that Toyota made to get in on some of the action at that price range.

It's true what someone has already mentioned about Subaru holders staying Subaru holders. When we had our fist baby, I did some research and wanted a car that was reliable, safe, but did not want to agreement drivability and some performance. We opted for a Subaru wagon in 1998 and never looked back. they are really fun to drive, and specially with a five spd stick, it performs. we are on our 3rd Subaru car now. Also our 3rd child :

Drive both, and choose. You know where my vote goes..good luck.
