this amp has already blown two of my subs not together but running one at a time.i recently got an Alpine Type R and it sounds hella good on that amp but today I smelled that burning smell it doesnt seem to be blown but is this sub too small for this amp also? what do I have to get? also when you smell that smell of the voice coils or the glue or whatever it's does this mean my speaker has already been damaged or just got too hot? it still looks ok

that amp could be better suited either A with a very high powered sub, or B a many sub aplication. that amp puts out 1000Watts RMS, and if you clip it somewhat it may have the effect of 1200 1300 watts..so you need subs that are appropreate. if space is a issue, there are 12" subs that handle that amount of power. just not a type R
and I suspect if you may be able to Smell them.. at least damage was caused. at least I could think.

Dude you need to go to type x woofers.
Many people drive their amplifiers into what may be called a square wave output. When an amplifier is pushed that hard, it's really possible to drive the speaker with twice as much power as the amplifier can cleanly produce into the speaker. that means the the total power driven into the speaker by the clipped square wave that means that the power is double but the cooling of the voice coil won't increase in amount with the power increase. This will lead to the voice coil overheating.

thats appear like the problem to much power. do you have it in a sealed box. if you do you must drive that speaker wtih more power. in hence you have a 1000 watt amp and this is nearly double the rated power of the sub. second, maybe you may want to think about porting the box., you get more output and you don't need a hell of a lot of power. thrid, change your gains on the amp. you may have them too high or the box may have a defect in it.ex leaks, broken . etc.
good luck.

Either get one Type X, or run two Type R's. A single R was not meant to take that amp on. I'm running an MRV 1507 and a pair of R's with no trouble at all. If you do not have room for two 12's, run two 10's. For now, turn down the volume or the get on the amp.
