Easy or hard to fix power window for 95 Avalon?

Postby TonyNo » Tue Sep 25, 2007 7:59 am

The front drivers side power window on my 95 Avalon stopped working. When I press the button, I hear a little sound like the motor is trying to do its job, but can not. So maybe it is the motor, or a gear, or something.

Is this something that I, a person with average mechanical capability, could fix, if I had the service manual and tools? Or is it best left to a mechanic? Thanks.

Since the motor is trying to work but the window isn't moving, the regulator is the problem, which isn't at all an strange fix. you may be able to most likely do it with a manual. The difficult part is to get the motor on the new regulator. That regulator is a cable type, and when you put the new motor on it, there's a chance of the cable coming unwound off the spool that will make more sense when you see it, so be cautious. The small bolts that hold the motor to the regulator have a torx bit head, if you do not have any of those you'll need a small set. Good luck and God Bless.
