Engine Installment total cost?

I have a ford escort ZX2 got another motor for it because the old one was not of use, I plan to put it in myself but can',t find a baby sitter all the fun stuff ya know, anybody able to tell me about how much out the door it could cost to have a shop like midas or something east coast install it? its a 2.0DOHC pre 99/5 production date 2/99, everything else is running great just swapping out the motor.

You get what you pay for. Your mechanic quoted the price with the core.so the "real" cost of the service is really closer to 1500 as well as the engine.



I wouldn',t trust a chain to do it. I don',t think they could/would want to do it.



I don',t understand why you doing the work yourself is contingent on being able to find a babysitter. Kids sleep, you',ll be in the garage 20 feet away. If you didn',t have a garage and a second car I don',t understand why/how you',d think about doing a exchange.

If you read this here I don',t know if you'll. but I was just seeking an awnser because my motor blew up on me that's why I',m considering doing the exchange kinda gots no choice : Thanks for the awnser although. to get a good awnser is like telling a kid they can',t be a kid. Report Abuse

Here in California SF bay area an independent shop will get around $900$1200 for that exchange. A big chain like Midas will be around $2000. You may find a mechanic looking for side work to do it for $500$600 on his day off. The only problem with that's if there's a problem down the road you most probably wont find him again.
