Help. deafening clanking coming from my jeeps front end.? |
|
Ok so I have a 1994 jeep great cherokee with a 3'' suspension lift. Whenever I take a sharp radius turn, I hear deafening clanking from the front end, and I also get wheel hop. If I'm pulling into a parking spot, it feels as if my cherokee gets a spring load and it wants to lerch in the direction of my turn. The slower I take a turn, the more obvious all these signs. I can take turns on the street with no problem, but when I take these sharp turns like parking in a spot the clanking is deafening. What can this be???

I have 31x10.50 tires on the three inch pro comp lift. I had the lift and tires on for about a year before this problem started.

Forget above answers..you don't have J joints in the front axles..you have CV joints..and the problem is a failed Viscous coupling in your 249. .I think that's the move case number, move case..Sorry but costly. If you have the four L, it may be cost efficient to change to another offered move case that will let you to go two wheel drive and not have the Coupling..
Sorry.

your tires are to big and are rubbing the frame. I'm not sure if jeep has them or not but on a ford there are bolts on the inside of the wheel hub that you may change out to prevent the wheel from rubbing.

Could be the tires as mentioned but you did not say what size you are using. If it is not the tires it sounds like your transfercase is binging up or you're in part time or lo range 4wd. Only full time or 2wd should be used for pavement driving.

Universal joints are bad.
Take it to a suspension shop.
If you're running over sized tores did you get the alignment to correct the caster/camber
