Help. Problem: sparking when reattaching my neg. battery ter |

Help. Problem: sparking when reattaching my neg. battery terminal isn't good, right?
did I mix up the unmarked terminals in the black when trying to leave work this morning? or do I have a short?
'92 Ford Exploder would not turn over tried to twice then nothin, not a click from the solenoid
Got a jump still nothing
either the jump or disconnecting the battery to clean the terminals reset the crappy Avital alarm siren already disconnected but in the two mos. I have had it I have not had time to get in deep enough to get to the other wires and do not know jack about alarms .. so now I can not seem to get the fobs to turn it off. do not think this alarm has ignition kill just sound and flashers
I am lost
gonna get a little sleep and go back and attempt whatever informed ideas I can manage to find here on a monday.
Please, yeah, I am begging for a solution my mechanic's out of town 'til the 19th.

I know nothing sucked juice throughout my twelve hour shift I pass my car quite on a regular basis
Pos. term. is tight but Neg. is a tiny bit loose as some jackhole put too long a screw on/the nut is biting into the clamp already and I just can not get in there
Yes, the spark is small but never noticed such a thing on older beaters

Possibly hooked up too loose, or your battery may be flat from sitting too long.
A little spark on hookup is normal your alarm, your radio's interior clock or dome light can be on.
You did not say if you changed anything. If you did not, and it is a small spark, you have most likely just got a normal situation.

You may be wired up backwards.

the thicker post on your battery is the positive post, be sure you attach the the cable that's red to it, the smaller post is the negative post, be sure you attach the black cable to it and at but not least, attached the red positive cable to your battery 1st. Then attached the black cable to the negative post. you may want to allways wear long sleeved shirts and goggles when working arouns a car battery, if something were to go wrong and an explosion occurred, you won't get injured as bad and you willsave your eyes instead of becomming blind. batteries are lots more dangerous particularly for people whom aren't knowledgeable enough to be working around them. you may want to have a licensed mechanic check your electrical system of your car out. If you reconnected your battery wrong, you may have and probably damaged yur charging circuit and your cars computer and you're luck, darned luck it did not explode.

Any time you hook up a battery to a car after the electrical system has had time to discharge, you will get a spark. do not worry about it unless its big.
