its a 2006 car, take it to the dealer and let them have the problem, its what your warranty is for.

It's a wimpy little four cyl engine. Of course it is going to whine through the gears.

Does the car have a whine in reverse as well? Both fifth and reverse gears are straight cut gears and have a tendency to whine at speed. Check the oil level in the gear box as a low oil level will increase the sound.
