I have lots of cassette tapes but not have a tape player in my car. could like to still be able to listen them in my car. I
want to get rid of the tapes, too bulky but still have the music to listen. do not want to have to buy CD's with the music already on them.

Put simply, you'll have to connect your cassette player to your PC soundcard, then play the cassette whilst recording on your PC.
A step by step guide is available at:
cassette2cd.co.uk/diy/index.phpcassette2cd.co.uk/diy/index.php">cassette2cd.co.uk/diy/index.p. screen shots and photos to make it simple to follow.
click the link to 'cassette to CD'
The recording software is the key, there are some free software downloads available at:
cassette2cd.co.uk/downloads.phpcassette2cd.co.uk/downloads.php">cassette2cd.co.uk/downloads.p.
I used ‘Magix Audio Cleaning Lab’ and ‘Audacity’ – Audacity is especially liked since it's free.
If you record to WAV format, expect file sizes of around 10MB per minute, or 1MB per minute for MP3 at 128kbps .
Once you have your digital variants of the recording on your PC, simply burn them on to a CD Nero burning software or alike.. . If you use Magix Audio Cleaning, the software will burn an audio CD for you without needing extra software presuming you have a CD writing drive of course.
You may also download a free PDF variant of the step by–step guide from the download page mentioned above, the guide is complete with diagrams.
Hope this helps

Yep, you could get Audacity free of charge over the net and use it for your conversion. I did that on some of my tapes that I could not find CD variants of.

Looking to move some cassettes to CD's huh? Well 1st you go into your closet and find your box of Cassettes, they're right beside the ninja turtles and pogs, but over your Members Only Jacket, and you blow all the dust off them and you take them out and while whistling the theme song to new Prince, you throw them out of your car window one by one. But before you do, make sure to tape a nickel to every one so that after all is said and done, you may be able to really say you lost something. HAHAHA

You will need:

A tape player with a stereo RCA line level out.
A stereo 1/8" plug to stereo RCA cable.
A stereo 1/8" plug splitter.
Headphones.
A computer with audio recording software Audacity, etc.

Plug the RCA cable end into the tape players output. input the 1/8" plug and the headphones into the 1/8" splitter. input the splitter into the line in jack on the computer not the MIC in .

Open your audio recording software. Open the volume control and choose alternatives &gt,&gt, properties. Check the 'Recording' box and check the 'Line In' box, click Ok. change the volume therefore See note below .

Have the tape you want recorded in and prepared advance the lead on the tape .

Press play on the player and click 'Record' in the recording software. When song is done, press/click stop on tapeplayer/ recording software. Save the new song as nameof song.MP3 repeat.

Use the recording software to edit out any unwanted 'dead air'.

Note: You may want to record some seconds and test it for the correct volume before you record the complete song. This may take some number of tries. Because your recording from tape, the quality will suffer.

Good luck.
