Since you are using the amplifier to power the subwoofers you must connect the rca cable to the inputs of the amplifier and into the low output on your unit. Use this output because to the subwoofers what you want are low frecuencies, so use the low output terminal.

For the remote wire, you did the right thing no worry there. also be sure the get isn't set to the maximun otherwise your going to get clipping.
to properly set your get do the following:

1. Turn the input level control on the amp to minimum.

2. Play a CD and turn up the receiver's volume control till you hear distortion on the speakers connected to the amp this could occur with low output .

3. When you begin to hear distortion, you exceeded the maximum setting for the volume control on the receiver. Turn the volume down somewhat till the distortion is eliminated. This is the highest clean signal available from the receiver.

4. Now you may be able to turn up the input level on the amp. When you begin to hear distortion, turn the input level down somewhat and that should be all.

no, that is most likely wrong. there should be a place on your amp that says something like "line in" or something like that. this is where your RCA cables should be going into. I could also propose checking your get position
