How dependable is the lexus IS 300? |
|
i thinked about to get one used, 2001, but it has 167,000 miles on it. but it's lower in price and I wondered if anybody out there knows wether or not this car will be dependable at this high number of miles? I have heard that lexus, since made by toyota is one of the most dependable auto manufacturers.

Lexus was in the top five most dependable cars in America for the last ten years. In my experience, 167k miles on a Lexus is just the beginning. I have seen an LS 400 with over 500k miles on it and still runs like a dream. It really depends on you, if you want to purchase a car with that many miles or not. But like I said, 167k is nothing for them. In fact, I just drove a 1995 Lexus LS 400 the other day. That car is 13 years old and you could not believe how nice that car was. The interior was calm. The leather seats were in impeccable condition, the engine was so insulated that no dirt or debris had piled on it over the years, the engine was powerful, and the transmission shifted smoothly. I has been astounded at how well that car had held up after 13 years. It ran better than a brand new Toyota Avalon. Yeah, if it was me, I could go for it.

It is dependable, but you do have to know bit about car to be able to preserve it. at 167K, you'll have to rebuild the alternator or least replace the brushes. And the 1st thing you may want to do is replace the timing belt just in case the last owner didn't replace it at 100K
It is dependable, but at that high mileage, you'll have to deal with wear & tear problems like brake pads, rotors, timing belt, V Belts, fuel filter, spark plugs rear ones are ache to replace, .
