If you mean the rod bearings you have to take off engine.Take off heads and split the block. Not an easy job for the amateur and you need some special tools. Piston have to come out so you may also rering and hone.

It isn't common for Subbies to knock from the bearings, but it isn't strange for the pistons to knock. You should get the opinion of a Tech familiar with Subbies before throwing parts at it.

You need new big end shells. it is a big job. you must strip down the engine, disconnect the pistons from the crankshaft and replace the shells.

It's called "engine replacement"

If it is still running pretty good and will pass smog inspection, forget about a new engine. Run it till you may be able to pay for a new CAR

Not being humorous but as an engineer take it to a garage, a good one.
The flat four engine in a Subaru are difficult at the best of times and will cost you lots more to put right if its done wrong, Sorry..

Best to purchase a complete rebuild kit and new pistons. rare for this to happen.how many miles? they're called piston skirts. may be something else although. Hard to say without tearing it down. When you get it separately, you may want to take it to a machine shop and have it bored. I have done this some number of times.never with a subaru..and I now just save the time and trouble and order a crate motor.
