How do I "hotwire" my truck? no, I am not stealing it. ? |
|
recently, see my other questions I snapped the key off in the ignition on my 1993 Chevy silverado, and I can not get it out. I am going to call a locksmith, but I have to use the truck before they'll get a chance to get here, and so I have to figure out how to start it without wrecking the interior like having to rip separately the steering column on my lawn mower, all you must do is place a wrench over the terminals on whatever the part is, and it will start right up. is there a way I can do this with my truck?
Thanks in advance.
btw, the truck is an auto, do not know if that is a problem or not, and it has 4x4.

if you hot wire it you have issues with steering pins that wont let the wheel move. I drilled out the ignition on a 1996 Horizon one time and turned it with a flat head screw driver. Worked and unlocked the steering 1/8 inch drill bit

yeah youll be able to start it but you wont be able to steer. unless that is not a problem for you. the only solution is to take off the ignition key cylinder to free the steering, wait for the locksmith, or be resourceful and find a way to get the key out yourself

No, there's totally no way. if you did bypass the solenoid, it could turn over but not start, it has electronic ignition and fuel injection so it could not be able to start. On old carburetored engines, you could do this, but then you still have the problem of the steering column not being able to turn.

Hold what is left of the key in place and turn the "rabbit ears on the Ign. because it will not start without that sensor in the key near does a 93 have the rabbit ears, because I can not remember it
