How do I increase horepower?

Postby Loponosik » Fri Oct 05, 2007 8:22 am

save money for forced induction. turbo, supercharging or nitrious. do not waste your money on stupid screw ons. if you want serious hp save your money for turbo or a supercharger system. if you get a stupid intake it'll be replaced nevertheless if you get a cat back that is not 2.5" you'll have to replace it nevertheless get headers only if you're to get a supercharger, for turbo you'll be replacing your exhaust manifold with a turbo manifold anyways. save money, lots and lots of money because your 4g64 head is swappable with an evo viii head. and oh yeah, last but not least power isn't everything. theres drivetrain, suspension a whole bunch of stuff you may be able to do. a light weight flywheel, clutch, chassis stiffing kits, full strut and shock coilovers, sway bars, upper strut mounts both front and rear, and after to get a FI kit. there's generally a whole butt load of tunning that you may do. :D well have fun if you want to have more help go to club3g.com

You could start by giving whatever it's you have an oil change & new spark plugs, and put good gas in it.

Check out the air intake & see if you may be able to fit a bigger one & a bigger air filter on it.

Oh the many ways.

Depends on the vintage of your car. Many newer Computer controlled engines may be tweaked via a chip change in the ECM. You may also add a Header, or in the case of a V 6, or V eight Headers, on newer cars with a 'Cold Air Intakes', there are aftermarket Cold Air Induction Tubes that will increase hp. you may be able to get more involved by going into the engine, and changing the Cam, or in some cases, the Cylinder Head.

If you live near a reputable 'Performance Speed Shop' stop in, and they will be able to get you particular advice, geared to the car you own.

For a hint on what to do on an older domestic car, check out the specifications on my 76 T/A at bencar.freeyellow.com/76TAPage.htmlbencar.freeyellow.com/76TAPage.html">bencar.freeyellow.com/76tapage.ht. .

Is it a typo, or not?

Its also been said that go faster stripes make you go 0.0001 mph faster

Buy yourself a performance chip online and have it put in by a professional don't do this if your car is still under warranty because it'll void the warranty.

"in and out" that mean to get better air in and out. that's the 1st thing in adding hp. there's three things that comes with "in and out", that's intake, headers, and exhaust system. replace those and you will add at least 30+ horses, if you get good brand names. it really depends on what you drive also.

but if that isn't enough, than you go for a turbo kit maybe. but "in and out" is the basics.

While the "in and out" idea is correct, there's no way in hell a four cyl engine is going to pick up 30 hp with intake, headers, and exhaust. I could expect a five 10% increase in power, most imports I have seen picked up about six ten rwhp with alike setups, so unless you have got a 300hp four banger which Mitsu does not make 30 hp isn't going to be acquired with "in and out" mods, unless some head and cam work is done.
