Window Films usually are coated polyester films. Polyester is a petroleum product alike to plastics and vinyl, etc.

The poly is "coated" with either dyes, metals or ceramics. covering is done in different techniques like sputtering.

Adhesives are incorporated on one side 'sticky side down.' of this film and a liner is placed on the finished product.

Obviously it is a rather complex procedure and there are patents on different parts of these processes. This but is a just evaluation of the procedure.

window tint is a film that you purchase to install yourself which does not work really well or you go have it put on. You do not "make" it yourself.
