First of all don't fit a performance mod which replaces the IAT or ECT sensor, nor the one which fits to the O2 sensor wiring. They increase fuel but not air and because dmage to the cat and engine. besides which, the ECT/IAT one is over ridden by the O2 sensor once the engine warmed up.

A chiptune or remap alters the performance characteristics of the ECU igintion advance, rev limiter, fuel map, increase, etc and increases power carefully. The best results are gained from chiptuned turbo diesels.

This joint with a power increase valve, cold air induction kit, and a stainless steel exhaust system could be a pretty remarkable get.

If this is one of those cheap £10 chips off ebay, its just a resistor you wire into the ECU and this definatly WILL because damage. A "chip" needs to be paired to the car and any mods that have been carried out cams,etc. to offer any benefit.
