V arible valve T iming & E lectronic lift C ontrol. there's no such animal as electronic cumbustion in car engines. when valve actuation is set for low rpm, timing and lift, low rpm torque is better than in standard engine. when valve actuaction is then switched for high rpm timing and lift, output improves to the level given by a racing engine. till honda not many varible valve timing systems have been comercialized. hondas system is the 1st in the world in which both valve timing and the degree of valve lift may be changed as needed.

I drive a 2005 accord, it is smooooooooooth as can be
now to yr question, this stands for vraible timing electronic combustion, what used to be is that the ignition is tied up mechanically to the cranck shaft so that it takes place while the engine is at some stage of the combustion cycle.
By controlling it electronically, engineers are able to alter that by some milliiseconds to start or delay the procedure of ignition to deliver better performance fm the engine..

hope that assists, have a nice day

VTEC itself has little to do with real electronic ignition timing. It has lots to due with the mechanical valve timing. On my 2001 Accord, only one of the valves reach full stroke below 3500 rpm. This lets the engine to produce better low end torque. Above 3500 rpm the VTEC solenoid engages some dohicky via the oil pressure and both valves run 1:1 full/max stroke. it is a bit different on other cars, not all VTEC is the same.
