it is good thanks for asking.
The redesigned Santa Fe is better looking then the costly Veracruz IMO and a great mid size SUV with a powerful V6 engine to move people and a trailer. I could purchase one for my wife, but she looks intention on to get the new Toyota Highlander. I can not object to that, the new Highlander ditches the femine look and is nice and spacious with a brandnew 3.5L V6. The Highlander price wise is in line with the Veracruz, you may want to cross shop the Rav4 with the Santa Fe, the new Rav4 is nearly one foot longer then the old model. Its a good time to be in the market for a mid size SUV._.

I have a 2005. Before that I had a 2003. I got a new one because I put a ton of miles on the other and just wanted a different color. it is is a good car. I like the redesign of the new one, plus it has more room. They have been good cars for me and I enjoy all the extras without paying all the extra money.

I have a 2001 Santa Fe and it handles well. The V6 has good git up and go. it looks to cruise at high speeds. spacious for a mid size SUV, holds five and pretty decent luggage space. On a scale of one to ten and comparison to other SUV's in it is class I could give it a 10. Had it since Aug 2001 and it has 70+ thousand and I haven't had to change the tires or make any repairs other than change the brakes once..

I owned a Sante Fe 05, and now own the redesigned 3.3, awd, 07. Awsome car, although if you're planning on towing as an earlier answer suggested, check out what it's you want to tow beforehand, as it is bound is 3500lbs. Smooth, powerful, and really nice interior.
Gas mileage is not stellar, don’t have idea why they opted to shove the interior light to the rear, where you can not reach it, most likely for the optional extra seating leaving only the map reading lights for manual use. plus some man or gal designer, made some other minor model changes FOR THE WORSE.
But all in all, in my opininion, it's a great bang for the buck.
one more thing, and I Only read this in reviews, give the big 18" wheels a miss, seemingly they were more of an upmarket after thought, and detract somewhat from the smoothness of the ride, as the suspension was not re tuned for them.
