How reliable are Mercedes C320 (2003)?

Postby Thom70 » Tue Nov 03, 2009 1:26 am

Our family have only ever owned Japanese cars Nissan, Toyota and found them dependable, hardly ever needing anything repaired and when they do nothing big or costly. but someone in our area is selling a used Mercedes and it seems nice. We like the features it has but aren't sure about the longterm dependability of Mercedes brand overall. I',d generally heard that the BMW and Mercedes break down frequently and are expensive to fix but I don',t personally know anybody that owns one so I can',t verify this opinion. Thanks.

I have a 2002 C320 that I',ve passed on to my daughter. Other than regular maintenance, I',ve never had a problem with it. frequently, the people who complain about problems neglected their cars. Changing oil, and filters on a regular base is a must to avoid problems. One of the beauty things about a Benz is, it',s easy to do all those lightduty tasks yourself. A little research on the web will get you all the information you need. Hummer dude is clearly predisposed. When the car was mine, it was the only car I had, and I drove it daily. in the worst New England snow storms. Oil, filters, tires, brakes, and one battery are all I',ve had to do to the car in the seven years I owned it. generally started, generally dependable.

Mercedes aren't dependable, they aren't really built to be driven all the time or as a family car as much as other cars are but they're built to high quality standards. A good friend of mine has a C230 4cyl variant and its in the shop pretty frequently but only for little things like a vacuum pump that leaked oil or broken door handle or center console. Most of the things that go wrong on mercedes are little things that aren't completely important but parts and labor are very expensive
