A gas tank isn't an item you want to home fix. in a dealership great precautions were used when gas tanks are worked on. Some shops clear the complete shop out besides the two mechanics doing the gas tank job, it may be this dangerous.
Few years ago in our capital city a small nine mechanic shop blew up caused by a gas tank fix job. One spark and its over.
Being that it's a Lexus and being that it's a gas tank problem. ONLY a certified Lexus mechanic should touch this car.
If it's leaking I could not continue to drive it either. If the gas gets on the exhaust system or brakes and ignites...well..you'll never know that it ignites as you'll be in kingdom come by then.

You could weald a substitute piese for your gas tank but I kinda recommend to get a new one.
