How to get to fuel pump on 1999 ford contour.?

I have to know if anybody has ever changed the fuel pump on a 1999 ford contour. should I drop the tank or can I get to it from under the back seat. Any help could be great. Thanks.

you may be able to get at it I believe from under the back seat but you'll want to disconnect the battery 1st and don't forget to drain the tank 1st to make it easier and decrease the mess while changing it.

Having changed some of different types of cars while working at a Ford Garage be happy it isn't changing the whole tank. Good Luck. If your unsure make sure to ask when picking up the new fuel pump. If you get it at say Auto zone they'll be able to give you directions I believe. All else fails, buy the Maintenance Manual at your local auto parts store.

THE FUEL PUMP IS IN THE GAS TANK...ITS ELEC, SO TAKE YOUR HOT SIDE OF THE BATTERY OFF 1st...DROP THE TANK AND CHANGE...BACK MY ANSWER WITH SERVICE AT THE FORD STORE..OK..

Its mounted inside the tank. you may be able to either go in from below the back seats or drop the tank.
