The 1st poster is correct, removing the battery cable for a minute or so will reset everything. as well as the radio, the windows, the transmission adaptive codes, seat memory, garage door openner codes, service reminders, everything. So do it at your peril.

The second poster is correct, the dealer or service shop will reset the codes with a laptop.

What's missing between these answers is that you have to get to the root of the problem.the car does not go into limp home mode for no reason. Solving the root problem is going to require the help of a professional service shop.

If the work was done by a Mercedes dealer, dial 1800 FOR MERC. they'll tow it back to the dealer free of charge.

Try undoing the battery cable for five minutes, then re attaching it.
This clears the stored codes in some makes.

turn power on dash lights up, have radio on blue screen screen asks for "Enter Security Code"

enter security code than press the soft tab with white dot below the OK on panel, WAIT should appear than radio will reset.

If incorrect you must wait ten minutes after 1st two tries after the 3rd try you must wait about one hour for the screen to ask for the security code again.

If you don't have the code you may be able to contact a dealer supply your registration and driver's license they'll give you the "code" to the unit. If radio is or was replaced then you may have to go to the dealer and they'll pull the unit and research the code in a different manor most probably checking the serial number of the radio to find it is code.
