How to take off Volvo S40 gearknob?

Can anybody tell me how to take off the gearknob from my Volvo S40 please????

I assume your replacing it because the button on the shifter is cracking and the handle sticks and keeps ya from to get the key out of the ignition ? You carefully pull the leather boot down from the handle, Then put gear shifter in whatever position is comfy for you, then you just give it a good firm yank straight up, To install new one set handle in place and give it a good wack with your hand straight down, if its diffucult to install, fold up a rag over the shifter and give it a light hit with a hammer, prefferebly a rubber mallet.

There is a clip where the boot meets the handle. you must turn the boot to release the clip, then slide the boot down and pull the handle out be cautious, you do not want to do through the sunroof when it releases..
