How will a body lift kit influence my truck and a suspension |

How will a body lift kit influence my truck and a suspension lift kit? will the ride quality change?
I have a brand new toyota tacoma expanded cab 4x4. I have never had a truck before and has been interested in raising it up. The car drives so well although, that I do not want to alter the ride quality or do anything too drastic.

I have a '02 tacoma that I put a three inch body lift on, I experienced no adverse effects in ride quality. body lifts don't change your suspension geometry and don't void those parts of your warranty usually the why that a suspension lift will there's a slight change in center of gravity but if you do not get too extrem you wont notice it, the whole point of a lift is so that you may fit bigger tires for more ground clearance, the lift its self will not get you any. A well made suspension lift can give you a better ride quality and more off road capability but will cost more. bye the way if you do go with a body lift expect your shifter to be shorter by the same amount that you lift the truck.

Body lifts just look plain bad. do not cut corners for aesthetic. Is that the only reason you're lifting your truck? use up the extra money and do it the right way. With suspension, there are some cheap aftermarket kits out there. Look at Fabtech. Really if isn't for a useful function a body lift is the ugliest thing you may be able to do.

Why could you want to lift a new truck? for looks? Yes it does effect the ride also as making to top heavy. i.e. more prone to a roll over. also will effect gas mileage by making it less areodynamic. Will make it more hard to enter and girls won't lie especailly if on a dress up type date. shortly not a smart idea.

Suspension lift is better but only do it if your gonna go off roading lots with it otherwise leave it the way it's because it'll influence the drive based on how much you lift it.

a body lift kit only raises the body off the chasis primarily for tire clearence. suspension lifts in moderation use most of your stock parts so you will not change the ride unless you want to go aftermarket and soften or stiffen your ride. suspension lifts offer more in general ground clearance. you may be able to go over bigger obstancles without bottoming out and have a greater suspension travel percentage. Either way you may be able to keep your ride the same or make it better/worse, both with decrease fuel econ. Personally I could go with suspension lift over body lift because they do not alter your center of gravity for roll over reasons as much as body kits. and keep in mind "Lift it, because fat girls can not jump."
