If you have not driven a manual trans, stay away from the Tiburons. Stick with the auto. Younger drivers are wiping the clutches out of them quickly. although they appear like a sports car the Tiburon clutch is weak, even after the new clutches that came out. Clutch warranty is only 12months 12,000 miles because this is a wear item. The manual transmissions hold up although,I've rebuilt some of the 5speeds. Hyundai does not let it is tech's to disassemble the six speeds. I know because I am a Hyundai tech.

I have a 2003 hyundai tiburon gt. It averages 27 miles to the gallon. dependability is remaining. I have had nothing repaired in it for three years just routine maintainance. Performance is relative to the cars you may have driven before the hyundai. Its great. It doesn't meet subaru standard or luxury performance standards. The V6 engine on the GT is adequate and quicker than you'll ever need for most day's driving. It weights lots so you get the safety that's needed if you're driving a sports car.

I had an 05 Tib SE with the six speed manual. Acceleration was decent, though the car looked much sportier than it really ran. The fuel mileage was in the low to mid 20's most of the time. As far as dependability, Hyunda was improving upon this but there's one big issue with some of the 2003 and newer Tibs that was downplayed as much as possible. The six speed manual transmissions have a flawed design that causes premature clutch wear. It has been supposedly fixed for 2004 but my 05 had the clutch going out at 1000 miles It was my fourth manual, not like I did not know how to drive one . Hyundai blamed it on me, stating that I popped the clutch every time I drove, it was the only explanation for such an issue in spite of the fact I NEVER popped the clutch on it .
Come to learn, there's a class action lawsuit consequently of alike problems to what I encountered. as well, read up on the autobytel forums, there's lots of good input from other Tib holders, especially about the clutch.
So far as I know, this issue only influenced the six speeds and most of the Tibs on the road are automatics or five speeds, so based on what you are looking at you may not have these issues.

Yes it's a great car you can not beat the ten year 100k power train and five year bumper to bumper warranties, I own a 2006 Sonata.
