I will turn 16 in some months too, I have seen the yaris and I like the style more than the corolla. The bad thing is that many do not come with power windows. If you may be able to live with that, it will be good. If you put power windows in a yaris, it will cost $15,000. that can get you a bigger corolla. the top of the line corolla cost about $18,000. Toyotas I believe are great 1st cars because of their dependability. I want a used toyota but none of them have much power. The new V6 3.5 toyotas are cool and have good fuel efficiency but are costly for a 1st car.

Would be a good choice as a starter car. Hope you get to own one.
Stay safe. Have fun.

Check out the Car and Driver issue from a couple of months back: they review a bunch of entry level cars. The Yaris is ok, but not much fun to drive and not much room for cargo or in the back seat. I could go with the Honda Fit or else the Scion xB. Both have great dependability, are cheap, fuel economical, and fun to drive, and hold lots of cargo too. The Yaris is by no means a bad car, but you may be able to get lots more for your money.

seems to be a decent choice but I could go with the Chevy Cobalt instead.
