Check this link. this is the Engine that's Mazda's the Wankel. There are links to air craft and other rotating engines here.

A couple of days ago, I asked the same question. And found the answer in mazdausa.com and also searches on google for rotating ENGINES. Also check out howstuffworks.com I wish I could answer the question here, but it requires lots of explaination and pictures. So the best answer you will get is to visit some sites about the rotating Engine which is an unbelievable invention only found in the MAZDA RX sports cars.

yea..a rotating engine doesent have pistons it has rotors..usually one or two rx7 first gen has one rx7 second gen has two and rx eight also has 2..rotors are shaped like rounded trianges and the work sort of like pistons exept they move around in a circle..when they move, it creates a suction,then compresion,and combustion all in one turn or the rotor..thats the best I can expsplain it without an example..but you may be able to attempt a google search or search..

and rotating engines can be 300 cc but they're 200 300 Hp. also they produce up to 9,000 10,000 rpm
