I have 2001 Hyundai Accent. I smelled oil burning for a month or so now. I'm having to replace oil?
about every two weeks in the car. Also smoke looks to be generally coming from the tailpipe. A friend of mine suggested that it may have something to do with the rings in the motor? That the oil leaked through there and to get on the engine. No clue for sure what that all means. Any ideas of what it may be?

how many miles on this car? did it happen suddenly? if its an old car, maybe its saying you need a substitute.
I wouldnt invest any money. you may be able to purchase another car for what it takes to do a engine job on a car These days.
Its cheaper to purchase oil as well, remember that too.

if it's smoking from the rear pipe lots, and your having to add that much oil to it,it most likely is the engine going bad in it,it may have got hot or something and blown a head gasket also, you,ll have to keep an eye on it although, and not let it get real low on oil you have to take it to a shop, and have them look it over for you,and see what they say about it,good luck with it.

Sounds like your car may have high mileage and the engine is beginning to show signs of wear. Have the engine oil and filter changed and ask for a heavier grade of oil, possibly an additive may be added to the oil to decrease friction, like STP.

If you have done your oil changes every 3000 miles and the car has under 100,000 miles the powertrain is still covered by your warranty. Take it in to your dealer and have them diagnose the problem. Your dealer can also supply a loaner for the length of the repairs.
Hyundai presented this warranty in 1998 or 1999 so your car is covered.

10/100 warranty. I replaced a lot of valve seals on these.Don't see much ring problems, hope you kept your maintenance records to show regular oil changes.
