the sending signal is gone, same thing happened on my savana its annoying, but I believe the fuel pump has to replaced if you want to fix it because I think the sender is part of the fuel pump assembly and can not just be replaced on own. and after you fix it don't let gas run below a quarter of a tank, that is what screws them up to start with

My 2000 GMC Sierra had same problem. Chevy House fix tech said the fuel quantity sending unit sensor inside the tank needs substitute. You drop the tank to the ground and remove the access cover on top take out unit and replace.

First, check that there isn't a recall for that specific problem. If not, the common culprit in those cases is a bad sending unit. Unfortunately, replacing it involves draining the fuel tank and removing it from the car. Other possiblities include a flawed wiring connection or the gauge itself, but those types of failures are rare.

bring it to a mechanic your insurance is most probably expire unless you got a expanded warranty
