I have a 99 ford expedition and it's going thru a lot of water but there's no observable leak and no water in?
no water in oil to point to a blown head gasket, no observable leak, tried gas treatment thinking it was a bad tank of gas, I can not think of anything Help if you may be able to

as I said no observable leak, with the exemption of an air leak on radiator, no water in oil to point to head gasket.. I'm talk about like six gals in four days and no water under it anywhere, that is too much water to not see coming out. I'm totally stumped. thanks again

thats what I'm saying although, I have checked for leaks and did not find one. Ford told me it was the head gasket and it could cost 1,800$ but like I clarified to them there's no water in the oil, and as far back as I can remember if your head gasket went out you could have water in the oil.. the other poblem is they want 100$ just to do a diagnostic/ pressure test. Man this truck is making me more mad by the day lol

OK, head gaskets can leak two ways, into the cylinder and outside to the air.. with six gallons, you'd had hydrolock on the motor already if interior I believe.
Check the intake manifold.. What the F I say?..
There is a hairline crack that forms on some behind the alternator also as some recognized for cracks in the back..if the intake is a plastic intake and the coolant pools under the intake in the v of the block .. holds about a gallon or two right there by itself.
Another place is where oil filter attaches to the block if oil filter is on front of the motor.. there's a gasket that can blow, and leak big amounts of water real fast in that area too.
Other than that, break down and let a shop look at it properly.. as pressurizing and blacklighting will be only ways to do it..

I had a alike problem in a great AM. It turned out to be leaking into the exhaust through the head gasket. I learned by noticing green drops in my tailpipe after the car had been running for a while.

You may have pin holes in your radiator/hoses or a bad cap. Go to your fix shop and ask for a pressure check to check on the system.

Add dye to the coolant, steam clean the complete engine and engine compartment, run it a while, then uv test it. you'll see the leak. If you don't have the tools, get a shop to do it. it's coming out someplace, maybe the heater core. super violet dye will pinpoint the leak for you, when under a u/v light.

it may not be enough water to be seen in your oil, but the simplest display of a blown Gasket is if it heats up fast while stopped. Otherwise it may be one or some number of pinhole leaks in either your cooling system or your head gasket which can be hard to detect because it is a V8 . 1st check your spark plugs. If it seems like any of the plugs have been steam cleaned, it's the Head Gasket. Next, attempt the dye trick like the other man said, Preferably a color reactant to black light which isn't costly. I worked at spencer gifts and they generally had something for $10 . Watch for leaks. it also may be the thermostat. What will happen is the coolant will get trapped in the engine and when the thermostat does open, the coolant is too hot and escapes from the radiator through the overflow reservoir while you're driving. hope this helps.
