I have the capacitor for my car audio system but will this capacitor work in a 12v battery and will it mess up my amp or subs.

that is correct kirboidz, the cap doesn't make power it only stores it for fast release, you can not get out what you do not put in it

It's perfect. That ranking represents the MAXIMUM working voltage. In fact, if it has been rated at only 12v the capacitor could fail as your charging system puts out 13 to 14 volts.
