the lights on my audi a3 that show what the temperture is and what radio station is on stopped working today but the part that shows gear selection you're in and if you have a door open still works

any ideas PLEASE

It is probably that the display is backlit and the bulb that backlights this is blown

Hi I have had a alike problem with my Audi A3, the dashboard instruments were all wrong and no way could I correct it, took it to the audi garage n they said my computer could not talk to their computer whn they hooked it up to the diagnostics and wanted to charge me 115 per hour plus vat minimum 4hours so I found a man who specialises in audis and he found it straight away, my rear windscreen washer when I covered water leaked onto the EC unit and had blown part of it, firstly said I needed a new one at 350 plus labour,, but then took it home with him and worked on it, soldered it and it only cost 80. Hope your problem turns out as cheap, don't know what year your car is mine is an 02 and the ECunit is in the well behind the back passenger lights in like a thick bubble box

if you have the backlit variant you may be able to take the instrument pod out and replace the bulbs, if you have the plasma display there's no fix and a new screen is the only solution, a common problem on audis, unless you have accidentally switched them off by nudging the switch on the stalk
